I could read the excitement behind the clutter of the words and remembered our "CLOSE ENCOUNTER" with ARR in Pune concert. The Wandering Souls team played drums on stage in the 31'st May concert in PUNE. We all being diehard Rahmaniacs, had decided that NONE of us will approach ARR for autograph or photo or just hello or anything..... Simple !
We all followed the strict self rule so much that none of the TWS members approached even other artists ! we just saw them at close range all including ARR at a distance of 1 ft ! the passage in the green room was 3 ft wide ! We just admired their talent seeing them so close but we did not utter a single syllable till the concert was over ! We were handsomely rewarded for our disciplined behavior after the concert got over. ARR himself came to us where we were standing and posed with us for good number of group photos, he even autographed one of the DRUM with a message "JAI HO !". We had initially given him a ballpen to sign, that won't work on the synthetic skin of the drum........ We thought, "...tough luck... Now AR will leave withought signing....." HE DID NOT LEAVE ! He asked for another pen and till we found a permanent marker, the Double Oscar winner stood patiently with us. Only after the marker was given, he signed and left the venue ! There were lot of commotion around as to why ARR was standing for group photo with us but ARR, the true gentleman and GURU to us, really took time out and acknowledged our efforts. Sivmani had made a surprise entry on stage during Jiya Se Jiya and the 4 drummers from TWS had almost passed out seeing him drumming with them..... He and Blaaze located our group, came to us and gave us blessings... they too posed with us for group photos one by one. During our interaction with Blaaze, We informed him that we prayed for his daughter's speedy recovery during her recent illness and asked how is she now ?.... He was intrigued !.... He asked us how we all knew about his daughter ? We all proudly informed him that we all are members of YAHOO FANCLUB... that's why ! Raashid Ali, Suzanne, Shrinivas Murthy sir, Naveen, Roopkumar Rathod, Neeti Muhan ... almost all artists autographed the Drums we had played and posed for photographs with us. Now we have a problem for our next concert. We have 22 drums with us and all are signed, so we can't play them........rather we won't play them..... They are our priceless treasure now ! Whennever we see the autographed drums, our heartbeats go in a hightened state and generate sweet rhythms..... that music will last us this lifetime for sure....... Moral of the story..... Discipline and respect for the artist's privacy brings sweet and long lasting results !
