LAHORE: A group of students from local universities staged a drama titled
'Bombay Dreams' at Alhamra Arts Council here on Monday. The play presented a
fantasy of aspiration where man had dreams to become a superstar and with
his firm commitment and passion achieves his aim. The fascinating music and
mature performance by students kept the audience spellbound for two hours.
The stage depicted Bombay's real life where people get chances to
materialise their ambitions. This is the story of a young man Akaash who is
a guide and wants to become a superstar. He comes across a girl Priya Chopra
and impresses her with his acting abilities. She gives him a visiting card
of her father who is a renowned film director and asks him to see her
father. Akaash goes to see Priya's father who selects him after his audition
and offers him the role of a hero in his next movie. The villain of the
movie 'Vikram" who is the business partner of the director, threats the
director to cut Akaash's role who refuses and Vikram hires professional
killers to kill Priya's father. The killers murder Priya's father and Vikram
grabs whole the business and ousts Akaash from the movie. Akaash who has
fallen in love with Priya wants to marry her but Vikram loves Priya as well
and kills Akaash. Priya can not bear it and commits suicide. The director of
the play, Shah Sharahbeel seemed to have full grip on the theme while the
music given by famous musician AR Rehman has made the play attractive.
