I think he was just kidding abt melodies and stuff. I just tried listening to them on raaga.com and every single song in the movie (gajini) is pretty fast with westernised beats. The songs are nice and catchy but there really arent any songs in that movie which can be put in the melodius category (

HJ has done it again with his Ghajini.. pushed Ah Aah to second place. If you hear the songs of Ghajini, you will know what sort of melody we are missing from Rahman. The songs of Ghajini remind you of Rahman's yester-years (esp. oru malai) - smooth flowing melody. Hope Rahman goes back in time
