MUMBAI: Now it can be told. Singer Kylie Minogue, who made a whirlwind tour to India last fortnight, has recorded a bhangra-pop number written by Abbas Tyrewala and composed by A R Rahman.
Kylie, during her stay, recorded two songs for Blue - a duet with Sonu Niigaam and a dance number. The film's music scored has been done by none other than Academy award winner A R Rahman. However, not much has been known about the genre of songs that Kylie would be singing. In an interview, Blue's director Anthony Dsouza revealed to Radioandmusic.com that "The song is a 100 per cent hardcore Bollywood masala Bhangra Pop number." The lyrics have been penned by Abbas Tyrewala, who directed last year's blockbuster hit Jaane Tu ya Jaane Na fame, he said. "When you have a producer willing to foot the bill and an international diva willing to work with me, why should I have a problem?" The song has both Hindi and English lyrics. However, the titles of the tracks are yet to be decided. "Guess that would be done when the CD is getting printed, it's yet to be decided," Dsouza said. On being asked if Minogue was chosen specifically so that the film could appeal to the international markets, DSouza said, "Kylie has a lot of fans in India and I happen to be one of them. And when you have a producer willing to foot the bill and an international diva willing to work with me why should I have a problem? But jokes aside, the film is based abroad and there was a song needed. It made sense to have an international star performing there and hence she was cast." http://www.radioandmusic.com/content/editorial/news/kylie-goes-bollywood-masala-bhangra-pop-blue Naveen
