For re-composing his evergreen tune 'thottaa poo malarum' into an attractive number, composer M S Viswanathan has commended A R Rehman. For his film 'New,' producer S J Surya suggested to Rehman that one old song could be made into a remix version. Instead of making a remix, why not make a re-composition, suggested A R Rehman of 'thottaa poo malarum.' This wonderful song was composed by the Viswanathan-Ramamurthy duo for the M G R film 'Padakotti.'
After recomposing the tune, Rehman did feel a little apprehensive that such an evergreen melody had stood the test of time and maybe his version would come in for some criticism.
Recently, the 2 composers had the opportunity to meet when they took the same flight. That time, Viswanathan hugged Rehman and told him, "Your tune is fantastic!" and Rehman beamed with joy. Why not? After all, the compliment came straight from the horse's mouth!
