You are absolutely right rakesh, Rangeela was the trend setter music
in north. I was just landed in Mumbai in those days, and first promo
I heard about rangeela was in radio (called Lokgeet?). The song was
Mangtha hai kya. There was no TV promos in those years and believe
me how I felt weird when hearing song bits for two three days. I
didn't had a clue that, there are lot of chartbusters in this album.
And later I bought the cassette & rest all become history for
me :P.... That was the first pure bollywood music by Rahman. I
remember how my roommates gone wild on songs (who are absoulutely
non-rahmanics)and started to discuss about rahman's capabilities
everyday!!

And I want to mention one thing about the theme music of Rangeela.
The Eros Cinema (churchgate, Mumbai) which was screening the movie,
started to play the theme music with lots of light & smoke effects
like stage show... Such was the craze!!

Rehman. It was not in his early days. I have done most of my
schooling in North India. I was amazed by Roja, Kadhalan, Bombay and
liked ARR very much. But In my heart i was waiting for the first
Hindi project of ARR. Yes.."Rangeela".

believing what i am hearing. I still could not express the feeling
while hearing Mangta Hai Kya. If i am correct it was the first song
sung by ARR ? His voice, shweta shetty's voice, the music
arrangements.Whew !!

hear.

mainly bcoz of the lyrics.

for me. I dont know how many have noticed this part from 'yeh tara
woh tara'. Its when Udt is singing the line "jo kissan hal
sambhale" ......he goes on to say 'sab yeh roop hai mehenath ke ,
kuch karne ki chahath me, KOI bhi kisise yaha bair nahi'. Notice
KOI. Udit's voice actually breaks here, and ARR keeps it there to
add that awesome feel !!
