Oh ya Kaissiom, Rahman started this trend with Meenaxi's 'Chinnamma
chilakamma'. Actually, it's a sound of 70's (radio & old casette
player sound) and he used it to give a retro feel to all these
songs. :-) Also it is used through out the song in 'Ay hairaten'

Actually Rahman has been using this sound quite extensively. He has
been using it for a while, if you haven't noticed he tends to stick to
a certain vibe or sounds for a while, before he catches on to
something else. Like during Tehzeeb time... he was on phone
tones(sounds).
