Vimal, whilst I like Shankar's stuff I till think Mani tops him for reasons you mentioned : his songs are a piece of art. No need for grandeur sets or exotic locations. Alaipayuthey is also another example. So is Roja. And Thiruda Thiruda like many others mentioned on this thread. Loved Thee th
