I tried, worked and got a chance to meet, speak, handshake & spend 2 hours with our BOSS yesterday (9th June 2007, Saturday). I feel like flying in the air after I spent 2 Hours (always with AR Rahman, by chatting with him, handshaking with him, helping him in giving FOOD & Water, etc, etc....) yesterday in Chicago. My Journey began from home at 7 am. I reached airport at 9 am sharp as our BOSS is planned to reach arrival place @ 9-35 am. I went with 4 more other true Rahmaniacs. Our BOSS appeared exactly @ 9-50 am. He is so simple and humble to the extent that he carried his hand baggage with him though he has his assistants & corps. In that baggage, he had his mattress to pray his 'SALAAT (PRAYER)'. I've seen his bag. Well guyz, plz trust me.... I was the FIRST person to shake hands with our BOSS as soon as he came out of the elevator. First word I spoke to him was "ASSALAMU ALAIKKUM...." and he gently replied like "WA ALAIKKUM-US- SALAAM". Then I said, "WELCOME TO CHICAGO, SIR.."... Even the organizers are jealous about it; They mentioned atleast 10 times about it. After that only 5 giagantic cops & other securities came into picture. Then only the organizer and his family presented him a Bouquet and invited him. All these things are recorded & photos are available. I'll show you the proof for all these once the official photographer completes his work. I couldn't take any photo with our BOSS as nobody was there to take photo for me; and also our BOSS requested "NO PHOTOS, PLEASE..!".. So I couldn't break his request. THANKS & GREETINGS LETTER to our BOSS He had to wait for 5 mins at the airport as there was a delay in getting LIMO CAR to the Airport-arrival's place. He didn't say anything; he simply waited. During this waiting time, I was chatting with our BOSS and told him that I'm from ARR Fan's club and everything. I spoke to him in TAMIL only. Rahmaniac (Suresh)'s friend Shyam has given me "THANKS & GREETINGS" letter to be handed over to our BOSS. I explained our BOSS about his letter and given that letter. He collected it from me; gone through it and kept in his hand baggage. And then smiled at me... Then LIMO arrived and our BOSS got in to the car. As soon as he got into car, he called his mom as "MAA.....", thats it. She also got into it. Followed by 5 cops and organizers. OTHER SINGERS & TECHNICICANS And then we left to collect other musicians & singers. Actually all crews didn't come in a same flight; They arrived in three different flights & three different platforms. Then I invited all other singers including Chitra ji, Reyhana, Neethi, Sayonara, Naresh Iyer, Aslam, Vijay Jesudas, Naveen, Srinivasa Murthy, etc, etc.... That time, I took so many photos with everybody and helped everyone to get into their respective buses & cars. They were all really really tired. The hotel is an 8 story building. All the rooms in the 8th floor are blocked as our BOSS & his family stays in that floor. No access to 8th Floor to anybody; No lift access; No phone access; nothing. No VIP / VVIP can enter that floor without our BOSS's permission. He was relaxing there as he was really tired (thats why, he said 'No photos, plz..'). Then Hariharan arrived seperately in another car with his wife; And all other singers & technicians were checked into their respective hotel rooms. And few didn't sleep at all. They are Srinivasa Iyer, Blaaze, Naveen, Aslam and few more. Cops / security was given to only few VIPs. AR Rahman - Our BOSS - 5 Cops Sivamani - Drums - 1 cop Hariharan - Singer - 1 cop Sukhwinder Singh - Singer - 1 cop LUNCH TO OUR BOSS Though we had organized very good Sound Indian & North Indian dishes (both VEG & NON-VEG), we didn't have FISH. But our BOSS wanted fish. So called up his family friend who are there in Chicago. They prepared FISH varieties and brought to his hotel. For the sake of giving food to him, I entered the well secured 8th Floor & his room. Unfortunately, he was sleeping; I again chatted with Mom & Sisters. Food for him and his family are delivered to his rooms; And also for Hariharan & Chitra, food were delivered. All other crews came to Cafeteria and had lunch. Meeting with Univ. of Illinois Prof. - CONTINUUM After lunch he didn't sleep at all. He has 2 Hrs meeting with the profession of University of Illinois. They both discussed and come up with some new experiment. The technology is invented in Illinois (Chicago) and it has been invented by both that Professor & AR Rahman. The new instrument name is CONTINUUM. This is also a keyboard; through which one can compose KARNATIC music. ARR made the point that one can learn KARNATIC easily using this instrument. He also presented during the concert for few minutes. It was awesome; he gathered lot of applauds & appreciations; whole auditorium stood and paid their thanks to our BOSS. It was simply amazing.... He rocked, dudes...... Highlights of the concert...!! ! Following are the key highlights: 1. ARR Played Carnatic musin using new instrument called 'CONTINUUM' - Proof: I've recorded this piece; Audio is good; video is not good. 2. Our BOSS, ARR presented himself very jazzy with his sun glass on... And he was awesome.. So happy to see a huge crowd... He was really happy... 3. University of Ohio students (10 students; II Year Graduation) sung a fantastic & fabulous songs in ARR's music (Rang Le, Rang Le, Rang Rang Le......). - Proof: I've recorded this piece; Audio is good; video is not good. 4. ARR got down from the stage and came to the crowd and sang "Humma Humma....".. Guyz, I'm really flying in the air. It was awesome... We had no words to describe that part. It was really really excellent. He was that much excited about our encouragement & applause... He, himself, got down from the stage and came to the audience and he was there for 2 mins... And also he shown his mike to audience to repeat "Humma..."... He simply rocked... This time, more COPs (Shouvik, plz check the spelling) surrounded our BOSS. 5. Sivamani simply rocked; whole auditorium clapped for his drums beat; both were in sync; In fact, Sivamani made it accordingly to suit our claps. 6. Sukhwinder made the crowd to sing "Chayya Chayya" with him 7. Hariharan offered the audience to sing a song along with him; we couldn't even follow 2 lines... very tough singer.... 8. Neethi performed "Mayya Mayya" song... It was awesome; he also performed dancing as well as singing for that song.. She got more appreciations. .. 9. ARR started singing 'MUSTAFA MUSTAFA' song and made the whole auditorium go crazy; he laughed... And stopped it; started singing, "HUMMA HUMMA"... It was really an awesome experience for those who attened the concert. 10. All singers came together in the stage and sang Vante Mataram.. and so the whole auditorium.. . Songs performed... As soon as the 'VANTE MATARAM' over, ARR left the stage with full COPs and within 10 minutes, he left the place and reached Hotel. And then every other musicians left after packing everything which they brought. Sivamani occupited atmost half of the stage.. Too many drums, instruments. .. Too many... My god...!!!! Sivamani's Asheervad from ARR's Mom... Once the concert is over, Sivamani, touched ARR ji's Mom's legs and got Asheervad from her. He asked her like "Maa, aseervatham pannunga (Maaa, plz give me asheervad)"... She replied like "Nalla iruppa... Elunthirippa. ...
