After the Golden Globe win for music maestro Allah Rakha Rahman, the next has to be the Oscar, says India's music industry.
The county's music directors say by bagging the coveted award, for his score 'Jai Ho' in British director Danny Boyle's 'Slumdog Millionaire,' has just made an Oscar more probable for Rahman. This is the first time that an Indian has won a Golden Globe and even though all previous winners have not gone on to win the Oscar, the music industry is quite upbeat about the win by their 'Mozart of Madras'. Music director Shankar of the famous Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy troika, says Rehman was the inspiration for him to join the music industry. "When I saw Roja, I thought of becoming a music director. He is a revolution for the industry and brought change in the style of composition. I have heard the songs of 'Slumdog Millionaire' and it's just great. My favorite is 'Jai Ho'," Shankar told. "He (Rahman) will not stop here. I am sure he will win an Oscar too. I always knew only Rahman can do it. He has made the country proud and put Indian music on the the top of the world. From here the future looks good and Rahman is solely responsible for this. He is the best," the music director said. Well-known singer Asha Bhonsle said, "After hearing the good news I immediately congratulated him through his assistant. It is a matter of great pride that an Indian has done it.
