Dear listers, We are currently in ARS 7.5 patch 5 with AIE 7.6 patch 1, CMDB 7.6 patch 1 with oracle Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi.
We are having an issue with 38 Operating System CIs that are not being pulled over from BCAC by AIE because of an unsupported special character. These OS CI’s all start with the following… “Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 Enterprise” Here is an extract of the AIE Error log throws this error… [Thu Dec 16 2010 18:07:39.6880] Failed to add request 3433,Microsoft? Windows Server? 2008 Standard :C:\Windows:\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1 to form BMC.CORE:BMC_OperatingSystem (EIEMSG 3308) [Thu Dec 16 2010 18:07:39.6880] CMDBCreateInstance fail rc = 2 [Thu Dec 16 2010 18:07:39.6880] Required field cannot be reset to a NULL value (ARERR 326): 200000020 [Thu Dec 16 2010 18:07:39.6880] Session Pull_ars_inv_os: Request 3433,*Microsoft? Windows Server? 2008 Standard* :C:\Windows:\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1 error: record ignored due to error (EIEMSG 3327) You can see that it doesn’t like the Registered Trademark character and just tries to add a null value to the Name field (200000020). According to some “loose references” I glanced at it may be that we can set a Character Encoding value on the Discovery data source provider in AIE configuration, or do an Oracle SQL Query “substitution” for that character. I tested setting a CI Name directly to that value from the User Tool and it worked so I know that the CMDB can support that special character and therefore, is probably just an encoding translation issue. Any help will be very much appreciated.
