Thank you for your responses. Something is wrong with my email system and I'm not able to receive messages from ARS list at the moment, but I did find a current archive and saw your suggestions. It turns out the key was that Mid-tier 7.5 does not support the 2.1 CMDB libraries. We had to provide it with the 7.5 Atrium libraries (even though it was the 2.1 CI Viewer & CMDB) and then it worked OK. We found this out through a KB article.
