You can build a Ford Pinto that will outrun a Porsche; does that mean that a Pinto is superior?
Windows will continue to own the end-user market on simplicity alone for the foreseeable. Pop in a CD, answer a couple questions and you're done. Linux on the other hand (all flavors I've played with) require some configuring. This is not acceptable to average user that thinks a "command line" is a military formation. I believe Windows is so large because it tries to be all things to all people. It supports a zillion hardware setups, auto-configures networks, plug and play works almost flawlessly and almost every piece of software on earth is written for it. I've not seen the Linux client yet that operates as easily for a novice. If you're an old school UNIX guy, of course you will always prefer Linux/Unix/Solaris. JMHO Andy L. When people ask me, in general: what is a more powerful OS, Windows or Linux, I can point them to this list. See, I know no website or whatever, that is vendor independent (free of interference or financial assistance/support from a vendor) that answers this issue with sufficient clarity and objectivity. For me, Microsoft, Novell or Sun or IBM marketing is just sand in air. Maybe microsoft should get some nerds to tune windows!! :-) __20060125_______________________This posting was submitted with HTML in it___ _______________________________________________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org ARSlist:"Where the Answers Are"
