Modify all will work for SERVICE field. If you want to update several records
with the same SERVICE field value, this may not be possible with Modify All.
Because if you select the menu on SERVICE field it requires the Company or
Customer field to be populated

I found another work-around as well. I created an Active Link that fires on
the 'Modify All' screen Save button. It runs only on $OPERATION$ = SET
ALL and simply triggers a 'Run Process' PERFORM-ACTION-APPLY. The only
ill-effect from this new AL was that a 'Modify All' in the fat client

A workaround would be to relate those incidents to one incident as
duplicate of and the. Close the master. However, this wouldn't work if the
tickets were not really related to each other. Still, if you're using a
modify all, they can't be that different so it may work.

That only works if the ticket is already in Resolved state. It simply
resets the 'Status' to Closed. What we need to do is set several open
tickets at once to 'Status' Resolved and include a 'Resolution' and
perhaps a 'Notes' entry on each. Modify All is the method used

to upgrade the midtier.

Part of the record is in Base element and part is in the CMDB regular form. The
only way to do a modify all when in any dataset other than BMC.Asset is through
the underlying forms.

In the past I have pretty much not allowed user's to use the modify ALL
option however I have a new feature where there is a strong request to
allow this option.
Unfortunately I am having some challenges getting workflow that would

None of my developers have seen this behavior in 7.6.04, but we are a green
field build, not an ugrade. The Incident team just used Modify All to populate
a new field added to the HPD:HelpDesk schema with no problem.

When I modify a field on my form and save the record, it kicks off the
workflow (active link) that I created. When I do the same modification
to the same field with a Modify All action it does not kick off the
workflow.

Whenever you do a modify all, I believe that if you reference any of the fields
in your run-if qualification, then the active link might act funny, since it
doesn't know the value in the field. I believe this is the reason why, although
I'm sure that I will be corrected if this is not correct

One thing to remember is that Modify = a SET Operation, while Modify All = a
SET ALL Operation. There is no check box for Modify All on an Active Link,
so I think you'd have to explicitly set Active Links to also fire on
$OPERATION$ = SET ALL to make them fire on a Modify All action.

The only active links that can fire on a Modify All window are Window
