Hi,
Here is how it goes-
1. Browser connects with mid-tier server using http calls.
2. Mid-tier connects with AR server using API calls.
3. AR server connects with DB server using database libraries.

Hi,
MidTier does not connect directly to the database at all.
It uses the ARAPI to connect to the AR Server who handles all connections to
the database using a single predefined login name.
