I am trying to get this running on my Windows 8 laptop.
(Windows 8,SQL2008, ARSystem 8.1, ITSM 8.1).
I have the ARSystem and ITSM Suite installed and running but I don't seem
to be able to get mid-tier installed and working correctly.
(install says it is there, but no login.jsp etc. for IIS
Install Tomcat if not already installed. Drop Mid Tier war file into
webaps directory. Start Tomcat, browse to
http://localhost:8080/arsys/shared/config/config.jsp and go from there...

There was almost always no value in an IIS front end to Tomcat, although
one could still be configured. I found people believed they weren't
running Tomcat and Mid Tier ran in IIS - which may have been possible
had "mod_jserv" been deployed and the year was 2003 - but was never the
case since
I'm not trying to be picky, but IIS wasn't caching anything unless a
module or whatever was installed to do so. Everything went back to Tomcat.

And when IIS is collecting credentials, often used to provide an SSO
solution, you can almost bet on the overall solution being insecure. We
strongly recommend people don't do this but a few of the BMC VARs know
no better, or do and choose to carry on regardless :)

I think Tomcat replaced IIS as the Web Server a couple of versions ago.
The only references to IIS I remember seeing in the 8.1 docs were how to
remove it.

We probably need to go backwards in history a little bit to clarify the
situation.
Back in the 6.x days, AR System came with a complimentary license
s to see something posted about the combo not working and
interpret that as it not being a valid combination when on a supported
environment.

DMZ. Our internal MT servers are Tomcat only (until we have a need for
Apache).
