I'm not entirely sure increasing the amount of memory is going to solve the 
core problem that Jarl has identified. For every ActiveLink action that 
requires something from the server, a request must be made back to the MT and 
on a corporate LAN, that may take 50ms or so, but on a WAN/Internet, that 
figure will be many times greater (rendering the approach unusable).

Less workflow is the primary answer. BMC writing a workflow optimiser is the 
secondary answer, and that's not a lot of effort for serious gain.
