Pantau is a registered NGO operated by a group of Indonesian journalists that works to provide news coverage of key issues in the country as well as deliver media training, media capacity building, and peace building programs. Pantau has offices in Jakarta, Banda Aceh, and Ende on Flores Island, and employs 11 people. Pantau is seeking an Executive Director who is an experienced journalist interested in helping our NGO develop media-support programs in Indonesia. Much of the work involves managing an NGO, helping develop and supervise projects such as a feature news service, journalism training, and capacity-building for news organisations. Additional job requirements: * Working under the Direction of a Board of Directors to implement policies and projects approved by the Board; * Following an introductory period, manage in cooperation with the Board of Directors and a staff of 11 persons; * Learning to plan and design journalism training and development projects; * Writing and editing articles in Bahasa Indonesia for distribution to Indonesian media; * Helping moderate a mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] with around 2,000 members, mostly journalists and student journalists in many parts of Indonesia; * Eventually coordinating the planning and administration of the organisation; and * Understanding financial management and fundraising, and supervising persons responsible for these areas. Qualifications: * A background as an experienced and professional journalist in Indonesia; * Writing and conversing in English; * A broad knowledge of many aspects of media an asset; * Experience working at an NGO or an interest in the NGO field a strong asset; * Previous management experience at any level an important asset; * The ability to be well organized and capable of carrying out an organisational plan a strong asset; and * The ability to work as part of a team and to give employees the opportunity to develop their skills to the maximum level an important asset. Terms and Conditions: * It is a full time staff position following a maximum of six month probationary period. Pantau cover health and life insurances. It also provides a pension insurance.
