Last night while walking on the boardwalk I noticed that a
graduation was going to go on at the Paramount. It was such a
glorious day yesterday, wasn't it? So I popped in..........it was
easy to walk in, no security, and sat in the balcony to watch what I
found out to be Asbury Park High School's graduation. I was so
upset as to what I witnessed. First of all, the Board of Education
should have been on the stage. Frank, John, Garrett and the rest of
the board should have been seated on the stage so everyone could see
them and know their elected officials. Isn't this important to
anyone? This graduation was so disgraceful, so unprofessional! The
teacher in charge was disrespectful to Bob, our Board President.
Her ghetto manner of speaking appalled me. Why didn't Bob and the
superintendent give out the diplomas in this ceremony? Dr. Lewis
really gained my respect last year during the Maynards' attack of
Bob's personal life. I was proud when watching Channel 12 News that
our superintendent said it was what Bob could do for the kids that
mattered. At least I knew then he was accepting of different
lifestyles. Well, where was the Principal? Did he approve this
noisy, rude display? The group of teachers at the Tikki Bar said he
was really nice but it makes me wonder. I think the students showed
they disliked the teacher in charge because more than 1/2 of them
wouldn't give her applause. I think Bob and Dr. Lewis have to look
at what Asbury Park is hiring as so called educators to our
children.
