Yes, Jim, agreed - but it's ironic to say the least you feel my e-mail was an attack on the messenger and not the message, when in fact, that is a tactic Jerry and his ilk excel at.
However - and this I can honestly say I know from considerable experience - when individuals like Jerry put themsevles in a very public spotlight of disseminating information, viewpoints and allegations about projects others are working on, (like myself) then I feel the individual should be as "honest" and "upfront" about their own involvement/lack of, etc. as they are demanding of those they question and accuse. i.e, cut the hypocrisy. If Jerry is going to continue to put himself out there as a truthsayer for the people (my term) then in my opinion, the people should know that he is not even a registered voter in this town, and may not even be a resident any longer. A property owner, perhaps, but that's a decidedly different issue, isn't it? I find it rather ridiculous that there are people who: a) won't make the committment to live or buy in Asbury Park, yet in internet groups or in letters to the editor seem to have all the answers as to everything that's going wrong or b) are the first ones to stand up and wave the finger and accuse the City Council of everything from irresponsibility to downright fraud, yet will not make the committment themselves to even vote in this town. And Jim, I am going to take incredible offense at your following statement, that was beyond absurd: "What I would hope is that each of us will judge a person's comments on the merits and not on one's voting status, gender, sexual orientation, race, etc." How dare you. How dare you mix apples and oranges so blatantly and inappropriately? How dare you play the "sexual orientation" and "race" card in a discussion that is clearly, and solely, political - which has EVERYTHING to do with "one's voting status." You say also, "If someone's comments are misinformed and lacking context, we all have a responsibility to challenge them." That's exactly what I did. Jerry's continued comment lack the context, "But hey, in the end, I don't think it's important enough to register to vote in Asbury Park..." That's the context I was pointing out, since it has not been shared with everyone. I'd appreciate it if you would help me in keeping that message on point and not drag in areas of one's life that have little to do anything. Dane Hall Yahoo!
