Madison Marquette, who has taken the lead in the retail and entertainment  
segment of Asbury Park’s beachfront redevelopment, will be honored with the  
Economic Development Award by the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce at the  
Carousel Awards Dinner April 10.  
The dinner will be held at the Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park.
The Chamber of Commerce presents the Carousel Awards to businesses and  
individuals in Asbury Park in recognition of their exceptional contributions to 
 
the community. 
Madison Marquette was nominated for their commitment to revitalizing Asbury  
Park’s economy as well as their commitment to the community. According to one  
nominator, “It is my sense that Madison Marquette is here for the ‘long haul’
  and will provide opportunities for economic development into the future.” 
The Business Achievement Award goes to Market in the Middle Owner Marilyn  
Schlossbach, a “successful businesswoman (who) combines food and wine with art, 
 
culture, civic and charitable function,” according to one nominator. “Market 
In  the Middle is a business that raises the bar and sets a higher standard 
for all  the businesses in Asbury Park.” 
The Spirit of Asbury Award honoree is Father David Stout of Trinity Church.  
Father Stout was cited for the unprecedented growth of his congregation since  
his arrival in Asbury in 2004 and the many outreach programs he has been  
instrumental in developing. 
The Landmark Business Award is presented to The Hardware Store of Asbury  
Park. Located on the corner of Main and Summerfield for the past 20 years and  
owned and managed by Sam Vaccaro and his family, the store was cited for its  
rare ability to thrive and prosper in spite of the competition from the “big  
box
” stores. 
The Public Official Award this year goes to Asbury Park Mayor Kevin Sanders.  
Mayor Sanders’ passion for Asbury Park, the place where he grew up and now 
lives  with his wife and five children, is apparent. He has been instrumental 
in 
 leading Asbury’s economic and civic rebirth. 
The Carousel Awards will be presented at a dinner to be held on Thurs., April 
 10 at the Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park.
