Stand Up For Asbury scored an important victory against the Market
Street Mission. The Mission plans to open a homeless shelter and
soup kitchen on the corner of Asbury Avenue and Memorial Drive. The
mission would bring in male substance abusers, parolees and other
down-and-outs from around the country to Asbury Park to participate
in their evangelical program. If not stopped, these men will roam
the streets of Asbury by day and effectively become wards of our
overburdened city.

Rather than face us in court, the mission was persuaded to allow the
matter to be remanded to the Asbury Park Zoning Board. Stand Up For
Asbury has hired Attorney Ron Gasiorowski to represent us against the
Mission. Ron Gasiorowski is a land use specialist.

We are hosting a fundraiser this weekend. Many of you have already
received an "evite" to the event. If you would like an "evite",
please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] You are encouraged to forward
these "evites" to all your friends and neighbors.
