`"The main difference was that the plan submitted to the state said if
the C-8 skeleton had to come down, a new building could not be higher
than 8 stories. The plan the council approved did not place that
restriction if C-8 is not used. "We were notified on Thursday that a
minor modification for the CAFRA permit was approved by the DEP," City
Manager Terence Reidy said. "This allows the Metro Homes project to go
forward and eliminates the technicality that an unauthorized plan was
submitted as part of the CAFRA permit application." "…regular weekly
meetings that council members are said to be holding in Asbury
Partners' offices on the boardwalk. Even if there isn't a quorum
present, do we really want our elected officials going offsite to
discuss the development of Asbury's waterfront out of the reach of its
citizens?" "It's very good news," said Deputy Mayor James Bruno. "They
can probably start tearing C-8 down now. A mistake was made and we
(the city and redeveloper) corrected it together."'

Much to do about nothing; when we pay to play, er–play having been
paid–it would be unseemly to `suddenly' get all technical with our
payor.

Like we took the money, now is not the time to quibble over what `our'
master developer and his minions choose do with the license we've so
generously bestowed upon him, you takes the money and plays the game.

Now is not the time to bite the hand that fed us–a deals a deal–I say
it's high time we get on with this wonderful project, we give unto
Fishman what is Fishmans, and finish this latest and greatest
rendition of James Bradley's dream.

As to CAFRA or some silly Department of Environmental Protection, what
do they know, they don't live here, they don't see all the really neat
stuff Larry's been doing with his highly paid exterior decorators,
pocket judges and servile council; the man's an architectural and
developmental genius, we should thank the good Lord (of your choosing)
for his (the Lord's) having been so generous with us.

Anyone that says different is just plain jealous that they hadn't the
foresight to ask for their piece of the action back when Weldon was in
cash.
