on Convention Hall situation. Werner makes some prescient suggestions. Mr Mottola says, 'the impasse isn't just about the matter of sprinklers and parking.' Haven't I said that all along. But then Gary says its also about his larger vision for Asbury Park's future. The city's revival hinges on launching a rock festival that could sustain business year-round. That's where my faith is shaken because no one can believe a two or three day music show is the be all end all. Gary remembers the Asbury boardwalk of the 1960's. Great stuff! But his idea is to transport 60,000 Bruce fans from a football stadium to the Asbury shore's. However, that leaves a lot of folks out. Not too many rap fans at a Bruce show, or Latin music fans either. Not to many fans who dance the night away at the Empress. Asbury is multi-cultural my good friends. I love the idea of a music festival, but what we're really talking about is a white music festival. Fine! But how about a black music festival, or Latin music festival. Keep those events for our gay friends too. You see what I mean. Gary is under pressure to produce results for his investors. But ya gotta be fair. A little something for everyone. MM should hire a marketing company to help put on more events in Convention Hall as Werner suggests. Knowing the pressure the state is putting on Asbury to be more self sufficient how about a 50/50 split on parking. Give the city something. In return, perhaps the city could split the cost of the sprinklers. It might not cost 1 million.....or maybe it could be done incrementally or several years. How about MM setting up a scholarship program for high school grads who want to go to college or vocational school. Work together. Look, this city is crying out for new leadership and I pray we get it. We must 'unite' to succeed.
