SPRINGWOOD AVENUE ADVISORY BOARD?
On January 12th the Springwood
Avenue Advisory Board met and made some major
breakthroughs. I think the key word that emerged from the meeting was "process." As we move forward with the tremendous responsibility of creating a community-driven development plan for this most important corridor in our city, it is imperative that we have a well-defined process that we will follow. With the help of Judith Thomson-Morris, a Senior Programming Officer from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) we were able to identify the key points for a successful process and we began to lay the organizational groundwork for its implementation. To this end we created and staffed the following subcommittees: * Retail and
Commercial
* Education and Recreation * Media and Community Outreach * Quality of Life As these subcommittees begin to
meet, they will shape the focus of their
work and develop clear mandates for their actions. Along with these listed subcommittees I am hoping that we can also have a "Green Building" subcommittee that would prepare research on incorporating cutting-edge environmental and energy-saving technology into our redevelopment plan.
