Apollo group to set up hospital in city
>From Simanta Bhagawati
KOLKATA, April 19 – The Apollo Hospital group is going to set up a
full-fledged multi-speciality world class hospital at Guwahati in about two
years’ time to cater to the healthcare needs of the people of the North-east.
Talking to a group of visiting Guwahati-based scribes here recently, Apollo
Gleneagles Hospitals Chief Executive V Satyanarayan Reddy said Apollo group is
setting up their hospital in Guwahati within next two years.

Reddy informed that a high-level team from Apollo Hospital, Chennai, their
headquarters, was already in Guwahati for discussions with a local hospital
there. He, however, didn’t name which hospital it was. He also informed that
one businessman has come forward to cooperate with Apollo group in their bid.

Concerned circles in the North-east must be in a dilemma over the move with
which group Apollo would set up its hospital in the region.

Because the then Assam government had allotted around 100 bighas of land to
Apollo group to set up a hospital in North Guwahati, which has now been
allotted to GNRC, which is now in talks with Reliance to set up a huge
1500-bed hospital.

However, it is hoped that things turn out well for both groups so that the
people of the entire North-east could avail world class healthcare services
without much problem.
