Respected Sir / Ma'am,
The Department of Cultural Studies, Tezpur University and Friends of Assam and
Seven Sisters are organizing an illustrated talk on ‘Vrindavani Vastra’ by
Thomas Richard Blurton, Head, South Asian Section, Department of Asia, British
Museum on 7th June 2016. Mr Blurton has made immense contribution of to the
field of curatorial science, particularly relating to the collection and
analysis of cultural objects from Eastern and North Eastern India. Working on a
collaborative venture in our neighbouring state of Arunachal Pradesh, he worked
on the oral traditions, material culture, and ritual practices of a few tribes.
Mr Blurton’s works in related areas and the continuing display of Majuli at the
British Museum is especially appreciated.
Considering Mr. Blurton’s enormous academic contribution to the documentation
and interpretation of contemporary cultural practices of North East India, it
would be our proud privilege to welcome him at Tezpur University. I am sure
that our faculties and students will benefit tremendously from interacting with
him. Mr. Blurton will deliver a power point display of  ‘Vrindavani Vastra’,
related to Mahapurush Sankaradeva.
I take great pleasure in cordially inviting you to attend the talk.
With warmest regards,
