Fine folk of the assp-user mailing list:

Hello, I am working on setting up a new ASSP installation for a client
of mine. I'm having trouble getting VRFY recipient validation to work
properly.

There are two strange things I'm noticing:

1.) Even when I have DoVRFY *completely disabled*, adding the SMTP
server information to my localDomains causes every mail for my
localDomains to be rejected with an 'InvalidAddress' message in the
maillog.txt

Observe:
------------
Aug-7-09 13:11:02 AdminUpdate: DoVRFY changed from '1' to ''
Aug-7-09 13:18:52 AdminUpdate: localDomains changed from
'*domain1.net|*domain2.com' to
'*domain1.net=>192.168.10.10|*domain2.com=>192.168.10.10'
Aug-7-09 13:18:52 Info: enabled VRFY for domain(s) *domain2.com,*domain1.net
Aug-7-09 13:19:14 76354-09626 [InvalidAddress] xx.xxx.xx.xx
<s...@anexternalmta.com> user unknown validu...@domain1.net

2.) When I watch the mail logs on our MTA at 192.168.10.10, I do not
see any connections from the ASSP box at all.. no VRFY, no MAIL/RCPT..
nothing. (Regardless of DoVRFY being enabled or disabled). I have
verified by hand that VRFY on this MTA works, and that VRFY requests
that are performed on this MTA show up in the maillog.

Before anyone asks, I have DoLDAP *disabled*. I am not using LDAP at
all. ldaplibdb is set to the default value of 'ldaplist', but I see
no 'ldaplist' file in my ASSP installation directory.

Any ideas? Thanks a lot,

Sean McLean
