Hi,
I have just downloaded the latest files for ASSP 1.3.3 Final off of Fritz's
site and while the assp.pl downloads as assp.pl, the file contents are same as
bombre.txt. Has anyone else found this to be the case?
Thanks,
Geoff

My advise is - plan ahead. Things change. Don't end up forgetting that
you are only querying primary email addresses and risk losing mail until
you remember why your LDAP lookups are failing.

Hmm, this got me on the right track with how this can be done. I checked
all the ldap properties of a user account object and found those that
referenced the userid (our AD usernames ARE the same as the email address
username) and found that using mailNickname as the filter as so:
mailNickname=US

Hi,
Can someone help me with setting up LDAP in ASSP to validate recipients? I
am working on setting up a new Exchange 2007 server and am not sure how to
get it to query in the proper way. My DCs are Windows 2003.

Hi,
I have recently turned on BombRE to catch some stuff that I haven't been
catching otherwise. However, it is being a little too aggressive in some
cases. Most recently I see a legit message that was caught because one of
the recipients in the TO field was to a school district with "toppenish"
Thanks Fritz! I appreciate all you constant work on this and how fast you

Interestingly enough I saw the first response to my question and never saw
my original post. Found it was caught by ClamAV as:
MSRBL-SPAM.SpamBlowBack.1150
I read one opinion today that the MSRBL was risky to use. Maybe I'll get
rid of that. I wonder if it keys in on the text and the stuff in m
Hi,
Yesterday I installed the ClamAV signatures from Sane Security including
phish, scam and MSRBL-SPAM. I am now catching all kinds of "image SPAMs"
that were making it through before. Today and I'm looking for false
positives and found one message with the body:

I'm going to move up to the latest ASSP 1.2.7.8(3) and see what happens.
Maybe it's ClamAV?

Thanks, Fritz. It's good to know this appears to be working anyway.
My current AVBytes was already set to 100k (overkill?) before I started
troubleshooting this.
I am sending the test Eicars from this page:

Hello,
I hope this hasn't been discussed already, I don't see that it has.
I have been able to get clamd running on my server and ASSP is accessing it.
However, all I seem to be catching are PHISHING emails. I have sent test
EICAR messages and they don't get caught. The ASSP log shows scanning i
Hi,
I saw something similar to this elsewhere. When I do the upgrade from
1.2.4(0) to 1.2.5(2)I suddenly get calls from users that they cannot send
mail. These are POP3 users and when they click send to send the message it
just spins and never connects (it appears) to the server to send.

Thanks, I'll try this. I had already set to use local time as suggested by
others, but that is only for headers. We'll see tonight if this works, but
it looks like it will.

Hi,
I have turned on daily log rolling in ASSP and it's occurring at 4:00 PM my
time (PST), which corresponds with midnight UTC. How do I change this so
that log rolling occurs at midnight local (PST) time , or any other time for
that matter? I'm assuming it's in assp.pl, but I'm not sure what I
