You are correct - they were part of 8x8 which sold them off a year or two ago. 8x8 is the parent company of Packet8.
In either case they are not Asterisk based.

I think your missing the point, they are looking at $15/month or $29 a
month for an entire dedicated server.. before I attract the flames
about limitations of these boxes, they are great for testing.
