would pay a lot for a cisco solution because it has a nice
interface while they can pay less (or even nothing) if they can have the
same performance and features, if not more, from an asterisk powered
machine.
What do you think?

I was looking for a way to pass alphanumeric variables to asterisk via
the keypad, found this application app_dtmftotext.c and its use
instructions on the wiki, but with no compiling/installation instructions.
Can anybody be of help here?

parameters were set to yes. Another usefull
parameter is 'busycount', it determines how many busytones to wait in
order to hangup the call. Test several configurations with different
values for these parameters.
