Hello asterisk people!
I have been running a test * server a P III box for some
time now and it’s been rock stable.
Now I’m looking to build a production system with as
big capacity as possible on 2 Xeon 3.6Ghz processors.
I’m wondering what you are thinking about Supermicro 601
Krystian - what kind of port density are you aiming for? Will you be
running analog or digital?

Yes,
transcoding is not going to work for that density.
asterisk doesn't do g723, and even if it would your system would not be
able to handle more than 150 simultaneous g711 to g729/g723
