OK, maybe i'm making some progress here, because now at least i'm
getting a response back from somehwhere...any ideas??

It does work. Your registration line looks correct except for the <
and > characters. Those shouldn't be there. Pull them out and the
registration should work for you after a "sip reload".

so far i've got the following in my sip.conf

port = 5060 ; Port to bind to (SIP is 5060)
bindaddr = 0.0.0.0; Address to bind to (all addresses on machine)
