Hello
We are experiencing some difficulties with T38 faxing.
I have a Asterisk 11.5.0 with libss7 and Sangoma A104DE digital interface card
. The operating system is Centos 6
We are using this server to terminate calls to Telco.
So calls are coming to asterisk from sip and we are sending calls
I ended up getting this to work using Endstream for termination with the
same setup. I may try Gafachi again if I can upgrade to 1.6.2 in the near
future as they seems to be recommended for faxing.

Hello list,
I read on voip-info.org that Asterisk 1.4 support T38 passthrough.
So I guess this means that I can have a Grandstream HT503 with T38
support and an analogue faxmachine on the other side of my Asterisk and
a T38-account with a ITSP on the other side of my Asterisk machine, right ?!
I have been trying to get this working with an HT-502, Asterisk 1.4.31, and
Gafachi but no luck so far.
The VSP should send a re-invite for the T.38 media change on detection of
the fax tone.
I'm using canreinvite=yes on the trunk and canreinvite=no on the HT-502
extension. Also have

That may or may not be true. I do not know.
I do know that I've had much better success with fax in 1.6 than I
ever had in 1.4.
My personal
Hi,
I'm trying to send faxes using Asterisk 1.4 and T38 with sip but Asterisk
rejects the t38.
Anybody know if is possible to transmit t38 fax with Asterisk 1.4?
following settings:
--- sip.conf ---
[general]
bindport=5060
bindaddr=0.0.0.0
disallow=all
allow=ulaw
allow=alaw

It might be possible to T.38 fax with 1.4, but I do

The scenario we have is fax send/recieve software that ONLY talks T38
and an asterisk box.
We have ITSP providers that do NOT talk T38 but G711 only.
As you're using an IP connection, chances are you'll get issues with faxing
if you

Does asterisk have the capability to take the T38 call
What you need is a so called T38Gateway application.
there is a patch o the tracker which you might want to try:

Does asterisk have the capability to take the T38 call from an ATA
or T38 software then bridge/transcode it and do G711 out to the PSTN
providers?

Just for my 2cents.. Faxing can and does work over G711u. We do it.
Although it stops working when your Internet connection gets jittery, it
does work.
