That shouldn't be needed! Are you sure you have set:
languageprefix = yes; Use the new sound prefix pat

Yes, with Asterisk 11's new res_xmpp it works as expected.
With Asterisk 1.8, it's XMPP support basically does not work with prosody. As
a workaround we have the 'sendxmpp' shell command:
