Everything installs and all dependencies are met on RHEL5, but this happens when I try to run vlc: VLC media player 1.1.0 The Luggage (revision exported) LibVLC has detected an unusable buggy GNU/libc version. Please update to version 2.8 or newer. Blocked: call to unsetenv("DBUS_ACTIVATION_ADDRES

Mark, I hit this problem when I finally got vlc 1.1 installed. After a bit of googling I stumbled upon an environment variable LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK. I added the following to my .gnomerc and it fixed the problem: LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=1 export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK I'm not sure what
