hmm, I tried a few 'yum updates' this morning and issue seems to be gone now.. not sure what happened I didn't do anything on my end as far as I know, apart from your suggestions and they didn't have any immediate affect. anyway thanks for looking into it for me , I'll let you know if it

I assume the kmdl is loading this ... package alsa-kmdl-2.6.34.8-68.fc13-1.0.24-89.fc13.i686 (which is newer than alsa-kmdl-2.6.34.8-68.fc13-1.0.23-85.fc13.i686) is already installed ...
