No Win No Fee Claim
Due to growing concerns over the “compensation culture” on 1st April 2013 new rules set out by the Government came into force changing the way in which compensation claims are paid for. Referral fees have been banned outright, so be aware of anyone offering you a “referral fee” for your claim, this is now illegal and does not say much for the credibility of the company or individual who is offering it to you!
Further, the Government wanted to tackle the alleged growing number of claims for compensation which were being reported by the insurance companies. It has therefore been decided that the claims process must not be completely free of charge to the Claimant and as of 1st April 2013 anyone making a claim will now be required to pay for the cost of after the event insurance cover for the claim and a percentage of their damages towards their own legal costs. These costs will be taken out of a Claimant’s damages at the end of their claim.
