i think you should use shift d, first select the audio, press shift d and you'll replace your recording for the selection. if it does'nt work, record the audio you want to replace in another audacity progect (ctrl n) then cut it and put it into that selection

Hi community,In Audacity, I'd like to be able to select a piece of audio, hit record, and have the audio I just recorded replace the currently-selected audio. How can I doo this?
