On Mine, you press escape a whole bunch of times wile it shows the Compaq logo, the boot menu should come up then press down arrow twice and then enter.I have a Compaq Presario V 6000

nope, didn't even know they were still around, by the way, its spelled Compaq, with a Q not a C, just in case you need to google it, if you spell it your way, google will probably return results about compact PC's.
