dark, there is airplane mode on windows. I'm using a windows 8 del laptop and in the wi-fi settings, above where it displays all the networks available, there is a slider for airplane mode.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=177458#p1

As far as I know the airoplane mode is only on Ios not windows, however if you disable the wireless modem you should be fine. On the Toshiba laptops I used there is a switch at the front for the wireless modem, and this is what I used when I went to Egypt.URL
