if that's true and they didn't need to do it, my guess is that they are using this as leverage.Basically, fine, we'll comply but lets see how much users will actually allow to be taken away before they start looking at these new laws unfavorably

Huh, weird. According to people who know about this sort of stuf, FB didn't actually have to do anything like this, the messages/calling/video calls were not in breach of any rules at all
