Re: Questions about midi, synthesizers, and soundfonts
I decoded the samples with goldwave. Interestingly, in the drum samples, the pre-ringing and screeches are gawn. I think this is because goldwave is using a newer WMA decoder. Yes, the format of the samples is Windows Media Audio

Re: Questions about midi, synthesizers, and soundfonts
Finally! It seems that you can sort of play them with FFmpeg, but not all of them, some don't decode properly, while others seem to play at the wrong sample rate.

Re: Questions about midi, synthesizers, and soundfonts
Saury for the double post, but I can see some hope in getting these samples decoded. I was able to play all of them in my Windows XP vm with no problem, despite Direct Music Producer only being able to read 28 of 350 samples.

Re: Questions about midi, synthesizers, and soundfonts
Msacmce.dll is a file that's part of CE that contains the codec that decodes the samples in the DLS. I found this in a rather hacky way,by replacing the DLL with something else and seeing if it would still work.

Where do you get that info about msacmce.dll? I've never heard of that.

Re: Questions about midi, synthesizers, and soundfonts
If it could read them, I think it would probably just be able to read the 28 samples that Direct Music Producer could extract. OpenMPT can read them as well.

Maybe, newest versions of Awave Studio? But they're inaccessible at all. DLS TOOLS is usable at least for navigating in menus and such things.

Re: Questions about midi, synthesizers, and soundfonts
Do any editors, other than Direct Music Producer, even support the Mobile DLS specification? I think part of the problem as that many editors can't read Mobile DLS, and also that it's almost impossible to find the codec that encoded
