Depends when you're introduced. Colleges certainly don't use anything like it for an introduction at that level, at least not regularly. mostly those tools are put in front of kids, for lack of a better way of putting it.

Why is that strange? Block coding programming is typically the introduction to CS in schools, for better or worse (I think the latter).
