Re: start menu not working If an exe file appears to be deactivated, something could be up in the registry. go to regedit in the run dialog and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\ and see if search UI or what ever
