Be very careful about "oomph". If the SB3 had more "oomph" than the CD
player, it might be that you'd be saying the CD player had more
"subtlety".
Everything has two sides: "sparkle" ("harshness"), "warmth"

That's an interesting point of view, and one I have a lot of sympathy
