We've been over this before:
1) The issue cannot be detected when listening to actual music - ony
with artificial test signals.
2) The issue cannot easily be corrected within the current design
constraints of the SB hardware
3) There are at least 2 perfectly good workarounds for the paranoid -

from my point of view, ti/burr brown´s as well as your hw-guys
reputation is rebuild for sure!
converting back the problematic 400hz/-90db sine mp3 into wav and
playing it to the sb classic sounds nice, as naturally expected, no
repetitive background noise!
but what to do about the generic

Can you reproduce with FLAC? If not, you shouldn't worry. Since
you're an audiophile you would never use MP3 anyway right? ;)

hi,
just testing the sb classic from a audiophile point of view.
when playing (digitally generated) low volume mp3-test-signals (400hz
sine) at levels of -60, -80, -90db, i can hear a residual noise, which
should definitly not be there, considering a pcm1748 dac in that box.

Nope. Christmas is not even recognized as a legal holiday in Vietnam,
so no triple salary, just regular pay. Seriously though, I have been
really happy with these products. Perhaps I am a little overly
enthusiastic. Skepticism is healthy.
