Sean) told you that they indeed is a bug that does not allow 24 bit
FlAC files to be decoded on the fly (assuming that's what you're
doing). I will look up the bug number and edit/post it here. I took
all my 24/48 and 24/96

Based on that bug it's not clear to me the method that will be employed
via digital volume. Will it be truncating bit depth, or something more
elegant?
I realize it's possible to do digital volume control that doesn't
introduce audible problems (loss of dynamic range, etc) but it's not
