Not quite sure where you get that from, each bit is worth approx 6 dB...
(and in practice, ADC's and DAC's can only do 20-21 bits anyway!
10dB is a factor of 10. 20dB is 100. 23dB is actually as close to a
ratio of 200 as you can get with whole numbers.

You perhaps mean 6db of SPL is a factor of 2 in loudness terms ?
Different thing here.
No. In digital recording/playback, each bit is worth just

Just buy the Bridge and get rid of the Touch. Why do you need the Lens?
BTW, the Lens will use the Bridge to connect to the net. Also, the
Bridge is much less expensive than the Lens. And the sound quality
will be higher.

Why do you say the lens will have lower sound quality?
Sorry, I should've been more clear:
1. Network - Touch - Lens - PWD
2. Network - Bridge+PWD
The 2nd system *should* sound better. The Touch is not a very good
transport (but probably with the Lens it will not matter

Just curious, what makes you say that? I've followed the reviews and
comments regarding the Touch from a number of sources since its
introduction. The comments have been consistently glowing. Even those
who think the internal DAC can
All I can say is that the Touch sounds amazing when run through the PWD.
What is keeping me away from the Bridge right now is the primitive
server software for it right now. The Squeezebox Server cannot be
equaled at the moment, and I fear that it will be quite a long time
before PS Audio
I did some more experimentation with Transporter firmware 85 and have
identified that the popping and clicking issue is definitely
related to compression and possibly caused by the Transporter running
out of computing resources. I noticed that the tracks most impacted by
the popping noises were
Is this on 16bit 44.1 kHz files too ? or is on 24bit 96k files ?
Any musical examples ?
If it affects CD quality flacs it would affect every transporter owner
not only you .
No special screensaver used with your TP ? this could also use cpu.

This is only present on 96k 14bit tracks. The one I see it most is when
playing track 2 of Keith Jarrett's Koln Concert from HDTrack.com. I
recompressed the files at compression level 0 with dbPoweramp after
purchasing them.
Something odd:
When I uncompress the file and play it on the
