Why not just buy a Linn Sneaky-DS?
You can get them for around £800, a superb streamer and DAC - like a
squeezebox or Touch done properly, so no USB or s/pdif jitter issues.
Proper hi-fi from a hi-fi company. You can use a UPnP Server or
Squeezecenter with it.

My personal advice - do not do that ! If you don't like the sound, look
for other things in your audio system to improve before jumping on
Transporter.
If you posses the knowledge to mod anything you don't really need
service manual. Transporter's layout is pretty straightforward.

Good idea - I did know that the sneaky existed - but I wanted the
flexibility of choosing my own flavour of DACs at the end of an
appropriate transport like the SB - or even a computer - or perhaps
even a NAS!
